Now this extraordinary live show is being released digitally by Warner Bros. Records as “Mastodon Live At Brixton” on December 10. An audio-only version and a live video version directed by Ryan Mackfall (Crashburn Media) (both featuring the full 97-minute performance) will be available from all digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon.

VOIVOD: ‘Kluskap O’Kom’ Video Released
Reposted from Blabbermouth.net
“Kluskap O’Kom”, the new video from Canadian progressive metal pioneers VOIVOD, can be seen at this location. The clip, which originally premiered at Philip H. Anselmo‘s Housecore Horror Film Festival in October in Austin, Texas, was directed by Syl Disjonk, who is best known for his short horror film “Ethereal Chrysalis”. The director of photography was JP Bernier (DESPISED ICON).
Asked about the meaning of “Kluskap O’Kom”, VOIVOD vocalist Denis “Snake ” Bélanger said: “Sometimes described as a giant coming out of the woods, sometimes a monster in a lake or sometimes a powerful being that came from the sky, Kluskap is the name for this strange character and O’Kom is the place where he lives.
“Kluskap is inspired by a legend from a Canadian native tribe called the Micmacs. He once came to earth to kill all the Dinosaurs in order to help the humans to take over the planet.
“One day Kluskap will come back with another mission to the humans.
“There are many similarities between the Kluskap story and other legends from tribes all around the globe; stories told of encounters with beings from other worlds. This one is very unique, I thought.
“So here it is; Hear the thunder, it is me, coming back!!!! ‘KlusKap O’Kom’!”
VOIVOD also released a seven-inch single for the song, featuring artwork from the band’s drummer, Michael “Away” Langevin, and limited to 1000 copies worldwide. The b-side features a live version of “Kluskap O’Kom” recorded in Berlin on the band’s last European headlining tour. The single comes in black, grey and black and white swirl colored vinyl and can be purchased here.
In related news, VOIVOD recently partnered with a local Montreal brewery to produce a limited batch of “Kluskap O’Kom” beer. Guitarist Dan “Chewy” Mongrain explains: “Frederic Cormier, the brewer and owner of Hopfenstark Micro-Brewery, and I had this Idea for a couple years of crafting a VOIVOD beer. This year, with the new album, ‘Target Earth’, and our 30th anniversary, the timing was perfect to celebrate and brew! So I asked the guys if they were into it and everybody thought it was a great idea! We sampled different types of ale, lager, stout, IPA, season, wheat etc to come up with the type of beer we wanted to do. We also talked about the concept and decided to associate the VOIVOD beer not only with the band’s name but with a song from the latest opus. We chose Kluskap O’Kom, which is inspired by American-Indian legends and modern reality.
“We wanted the beer to have a taste from the woods, the terroir, so to speak. So Frederic had this idea of crafting the beer with Mugwort and Balsam Fir, which we ended up picking up in the woods.
“The beer is made with fresh ingredients; it’s easy to drink yet with complex, well-balanced flavors.
“We just invited friends and fans to the release party in Montreal at Station Ho.st (bar owned by the brewer) and it was a complete success! Lots of people celebrating the 30th anniversary of VOIVOD, making toasts with a Kluskap O’Kom beer, listening to some VOIVOD, watching a two-hour [documentary on the] making of the beer, plus we had a surprise when our director friend showed up with a DVD to play the promo video of ‘Kluskap O’Kom’!! It was a perfect magical evening… I ended up going to bed at 6 a.m… smiling. How could life be better than that?”
WATAIN: ‘Outlaw’ Video Released
Reposted from Blabbermouth.net
“Outlaw”, the new video from Swedish black metallers WATAIN, can be seen at this location. The clip was produced by WATAIN and Johan Bååth, who previously helmed the band’s “Opus Diaboli” DVD in 2012.
Comments WATAIN: “The ‘Outlaw’ video is a knife stab in the face of today’s clean and witty metal scene and yet another step for us to bring back something real and extreme into this limping music movement.”
A short interview with WATAIN vocalist/bassist Erik Danielsson about the ideas and the inspiration behind the video is available on the band’s web site, www.templeofwatain.com.
“Outlaw” is taken from WATAIN‘s fifth full-length, “The Wild Hunt”, which sold around 2,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD was released on August 19 in Europe and August 20 in USA via the band’s own label His Master’s Noise through Century Media Records.
Produced once again by Tore Stjerna at his Necromorbus studio in Alvik, Sweden, “The Wild Hunt” is a sonic and lyrical tour-de-force that explores WATAIN‘s roots, such as BATHORY and DISSECTION, while also remaining truly unique. Having lost none of their integrity, WATAIN continues to push the boundaries of the scene with their fifth full-length, refusing to compromise their sound and vision. Amid the tracks teeming with the band’s classic sound, “The Wild Hunt” also features clean vocals (a first for the trio!) which, as Erik Danielsson puts it, “is just us being brutally personal and honest. It shows another important facet of the WATAIN world.”
Executed in oil and mixed materials, the cover of “The Wild Hunt” was created by Zbigniew M Bielak, the very same artist who was responsible for the “Lawless Darkness” artwork. The piece depicts one of the inmost shrines of WATAIN‘s temple. As on every classic still life, each object has a significant meaning, while each song of the album is also connected to an object.
DEICIDE: ‘End The Wrath Of God’ Video Released
Reposted from Blabbermouth.net
“End The Wrath Of God”, the new video from Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE, can be seen at this location. The song comes off the band’s latest album, “In The Minds Of Evil”, which sold 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Issued on November 25 via Century Media Records, the follow-up to 2011’s “To Hell With God” was recorded at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER).
“To Hell With God” sold 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
DEICIDE‘s previous CD, “Till Death Do Us Part”, opened with 2,900 copies back in May 2008.
“In The Minds Of Evil” track listing:
01. In The Minds Of Evil
02. Thou Begone
04. Beyond Salvation
05. Misery Of One
06. Between The Flesh And The Void
07. Even The Gods Can Bleed
08. Trample The Cross
09. Banished By Evil
10. Kill The Light Of Christ
11. End The Wrath Of God
The cover artwork (see below) was taken from Australian artist Simon Cowell‘s painting Power Of The Mind, and offers a fitting face to the album’s 11 tracks.
Steve Asheim recently told Decibel magazine about the band’s working relationship with Suecof: “It’s awesome! I’ve known Jason since ‘08. I had been going out to do the ORDER OF ENNEAD records with him. The last DEICIDE record we did with Mark [Lewis], but I’ve known Jason a long time, so I asked him if he was into it. He said, ‘Absolutely!’ I wanted to get one done ovith him before something happens. You never know.”
Regarding the lyrical themes covered on the new DEICIDE album, Asheim said: “[The lyrics] are typical Glen Benton. Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We’re going to get down and dirty this Blasphemous, brutal rhetoric. We’re going to get down and dirty this time around, so expect the lyrics to be brutal.”
According to Asheim, longtime fans will pick up on nuances inspired by the almighty “Legion” effort. “Jason wanted to capture the ‘Legion’ feel,” the drummer said. “We’re wanting Glen‘s vocals to sound more old-school. So, it’s a bit of the new with a little throwback action.”
As for DEICIDE‘s time at Audiohammer, Asheim said: “It’s pretty cut-and-dried these days. I’ve known Jason a few years. I kind of know his methodology, how he works. It’s a far drive, so we’ll spend two or three nights there. Once we knock it out, we’ll end up partying. We repeat that the next day.”
BEHEMOTH: ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ Video Released
Reposted from Blabbermouth.net
Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH will release their long-awaited new album, “The Satanist”, on February 3 in the U.K., February 4 in North America and Poland, February 5 in Japan, and February 7 in the rest of the world. Pre-order bundles, include: CD, LP, t-shirt, as well as the deluxe box set, and are available at metalblade.com/behemoth in North America, nuclearblast.de/behemoth in Europe, and on behemoth-store.com (digibook and box).
BEHEMOTH‘s video for the new single “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel” has been unveiled. This visual masterpiece was produced by Grupa 13 and is one of BEHEMOTH‘s most unsettling and unique works to date, and can be viewed at this location.
BEHEMOTH frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski states about the video: “Yes, we took all the time in the world to complete this project. And we did everything that was humanely possible to accurately express our vision. We crossed the Rubicon.
“‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’ is an ecstatic manifest of our unrestrained artistic will, where we dare to reach out beyond the limitations of the heavy metal genre. And it’s only the beginning.”
“The Satanist” deluxe box, which is available in North America as an European import, includes: CD/DVD digibook in silver mirror slipcase with a high-quality 44-page booklet (with gold foil, UV gloss lamination), supersize poster flag (approx. 3.5’ x 5’), wooden black inverted rosary cross, metal pin, black envelope with black communion wafers. The DVD, “Live Barbarossa”, includes a professionally filmed show in Ekaterinburg, Russia, as well as 30-minute documentary about the creative process behind “The Satanist”.
“The Satanist” was produced by BEHEMOTH, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand at Hertz Studio. The CD was mixed by Matt Hyde (SLAYER) and mastered by Ted Jensen (METALLICA, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover art for “The Satanist” was painted by renowned Russian painter and occultist Denis Forkas. The paint used included some of Nergal‘s own blood. Additional art and design was completed by Metastazis (PARADISE LOST) and Zbigniew Bielak (WATAIN, GHOST).
“I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art,” Nergal told Australia’s Heavy magazine about having his blood included in “The Satanist” artwork.
“This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more ‘ours’ than it is usually.”
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Darski described BEHEMOTH‘s new songs as “very atmospheric” and “very emotional.” “Think BURZUM meets NEW ORDER meets KILLING JOKE,” he added. But at the same time, fans shouldn’t expect the album to sound too far removed from BEHEMOTH‘s past efforts. “Take SLAYER, for example,” Darski said. “Whatever genre they deal with, they still end up sounding like SLAYER. Even when they were flirting with nu-metal, it was a SLAYER record. Same with BEHEMOTH.”
According to Darski, at least some of the inspiration for the new BEHEMOTH album came from his five-month bout of leukemia he overcame in January 2011, after receiving a bone-marrow transplant. “When I was in the hospital, I was collecting experiences and emotions,” he said. “I’m pretty sure that it’s coming out now. There are moments I catch myself thinking about how my state was back then. It was me versus life, me versus death. It definitely changed my thoughts a lot. It’s 100 percent being reflected in the record and songs I’m writing nowadays. I’m way more radical than I used to be.”
Fans can still order the limited edition 12-inch EP of “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel” (1,000 white and 1,000 black, 180-gram vinyl) that will be released as a gatefold with each copy hand numbered and signed by the band. The 12-inch EP can be pre-ordered via BEHEMOTH‘s webstore, Nuclear Blast Europe webstore, and Metal Blade Records U.S. webstore.
