Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of MANOWAR’s “Kings Of Metal”album, which the band calls “a milestone in metal history,” the group is currently in the studio recording a brand new special version of the LP:“Kings Of Metal 2014”. The new rendition will “honor the original as its inspiration, but with additional energy, fully utilizing the power of today’s technology and 25 years of experience,” says MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio. “It will contain new arrangements and changes that incorporate live performance elements added over the years. The album will feature additional bonus material and many other surprises.”

The new recording is only one component of the “Kings Of Metal 2014”anniversary celebration.

For this special occasion, MANOWAR will also open their vaults and reveal never-before-seen video footage, photos, behind-the-scene interviews and insight into the history of MANOWAR and the “Kings Of Metal” era.

For the new narration on “The Warrior’s Prayer”, the band will be joined by celebrated British actor Brian Blessed (“Henry V”“Macbeth”).Blessed is a renowned Shakespeare and character actor who has starred, among others, in Kenneth Brannagh’s “Henry V” and “Much Ado About Nothing”, in “King Lear” and Oliver Stone’s “Alexander”.Brian also has an affinity with heavy metal music. In June, he received the “Spirit Of Hammer” award at Metal Hammer U.K.’s Golden Gods Awards.

The new recordings will also feature guitarist Karl Logan’s and drummerDonnie Hamzik’s contributions, who, after having played these classic hymns many times live, will now have the opportunity to add to their legacy by including their own signature sound and performance.

The release of “Kings Of Metal 2014” is scheduled for the end of this year.

2014 will then see MANOWAR’s anniversary tour, performing the full“Kings Of Metal 2014” album along with their other metal hymns in a completely new stage production.

“Kings Of Metal” was first released on November 18, 1988. Already a significant force with international success since their debut album“Battle Hymns”, this release and the following 1989 “Kings Of Metal”world tour catapulted MANOWAR to a new sphere. Songs like “Heart Of Steel”“Kings Of Metal”“Hail And Kill” and “Blood Of The Kings”became instant anthems and remain among the most demanded songs in concerts, celebrated not only by MANOWAR fans.

Guitarist KELLY MCLAUCHLIN’s Time With POSSESSED Has Come To And End

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

Guitarist Kelly McLauchlin of California death metal pioneersPOSSESSED has released the following statement:

“Due to my busy work/travel schedule with my audio-visual career, I will not be touring with POSSESSED on their upcoming South American tour. The band has found a replacement guitarist to do the tour, and although we are leaving the door open to fill in whenever possible, most likely this will be the end of my time with POSSESSED. I simply cannot commit to the band’s increasing tour schedule.

“As anyone can imagine, this has been a very difficult decision to make. In the past, I would have simply quit my job for an opportunity to tour with a legendary band like POSSESSED — a band which I grew up listening to since I was 16 years old. But, things are different now — and I have responsibilities, and bills to pay.

“It has been 2 and ½ years ago since I joined POSSESSED, and in that time we have done quite a few amazing things — we played a total of 31 shows together, including some huge festivals (HellfestGraspop), special events (Bonded By BaloffBarge To Hell), U.S. tour dates and two full European tours, as well as written — and performed live — the first new POSSESSED song in over 20 years. So I will always remember my time with POSSESSED.

“I’d like to thank all our fans and friends, old and new, who have shown their support. I hope to see you all again one day. I send my best wishes and respect to Jeff Becerra. We will always remain friends, and brothers. And to the rest of the band, good luck in South America and in the future.

“And for my personal fans, friends and supporters – do not worry, this is not the end of my musical projects — stay tuned for something very special to be announced in the weeks ahead.”

POSSESSED’s most recent lineup consisted of the following musicians:

Jeff Becerra – Vocals
Emilio Marquez (SADISTIC INTENT) – Drums
Robert Cardenas (AGENT STEEL, COFFIN TEXTS) – Bass
Kelly McLauchlin (DIABOLIC, UNHOLY GHOST, PESSIMIST) – Guitar
Daniel Gonzalez (NAILSHITTER, OCCISAS) – Guitar

Becerra previously stated about POSSESSED’s most recent lineup: “I am quite happy with this new lineup and truly respect every member in the band now. It just makes everything so much easier and worthwhile whenever everyone is as into the music as I am. Also the professionalism and dedication is unwavering. These guys came in with guns blazing and knew the songs so well that even the first time around they were playing them almost perfectly.”

TOM GABRIEL FISCHER Issues New TRIPTYKON Album Update

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

TRIPTYKON — the group formed by former HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tom Gabriel Fischer(a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior) — is working on material for its sophomore full-length CD, tentatively due in early 2014.

Comments Fischer: “TRIPTYKON’s current rehearsal and arrangement sessions for the forthcoming second album sound sweepingly heavy, epic, and dark. And utterly diverse. Such music — and, indeed, the experience of creating it — is deeply alluring, even addictive.

“The path leading to this point has been unexpectedly long and extremely challenging, even if for reasons largely unrelated to the group. And yet, we are reminded every time we meet why we have persisted. LoveTRIPTYKON or feel profound hatred for us, but this group sounds like no other — except the two from which we have arisen.

“It will still be a few months until the music that is ‘Daemon’‘Into Despair’‘Sycophant’‘Boleskine House’‘Tree Of Suffocated Souls’, and many more, will be committed to the album proper. But having progressed, finally, so far into the process in this manner is moving beyond description.”

Regarding the approach to his guitar playing on the new TRIPTYKONmaterial, Fischer previously said: “My guitar tone/sound will likely continue to evolve, albeit within the limits of a certain direction.

“My current guitar tone is the result of a continuous effort to achieve a tone which represents me, i.e., my emotional landscape, perfectly. I have never been able to identify more with my guitar tone than in recent years (on ‘Monotheist’ and, particularly, ‘Eparistera Daimones’ and the associated tours). I have spent some three decades pursuing this a tone/sound, and I feel etremely comfortable with it now, and I see little impetus to change it at this time. Above all, it yields the heaviness and darkness I seek. To me, this type of a continuous mutation within a certain frame of mind can best be explained when one looks at the three consecutive versions of the song ‘Triumph Of Death’… The simple reason is that I am not ‘youthful’ anymore at this point in my life, and it is logical that my music and approach is thus different. I will turn 50 this year, and it would be utterly naive to expect that my sound is exactly the same 31 years after I started HELLHAMMER as a teenager. If it was, it would be an act, i.e., a lie… My ‘aggression’ is [still] there. It has changed, though. It is of a very different kind nowadays. If anything, it is far more profound.”

“Shatter”, the latest five-track EP from TRIPTYKON, sold around 500 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 90 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

“Shatter” was released on October 25, 2010 (Europe) and October 26, 2010 (North America).

At a playing time of approximately 28 minutes, “Shatter” consists almost entirely of previously unreleased music.

TRIPTYKON consists of V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard(drums, percussion), Vanja Slajh (bass), and Tom Gabriel Fischer(voice, guitars). The group has unambiguously stated that it pursues the continuation and further development of the path Warrior began inHELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST.
