In regards to the new album, FINNTROLL commented on their studio blog: “Combining our trademark sound with even more influences from non- traditional genres in metal music, we have created 11 songs which show you everything we want to offer. And boy, wasn’t that one of the hardest tasks for some time. After all, how do you keep your sound fresh, yet familiar, after 6 albums and 15 years?

“At some point, we were afraid that the songs are not melodic enough. Then we started to fear they became too melodic. Then we let the songs rest for a while and molded them more in a way that the non-melodic stuff got something to hum with, and the cheesy pop songs were arranged more stripped and aggressive. We were confident, yet sometimes scared what will people think of the stuff we’ve been doing so hard. What if they hate it? That would be fine, but if they would hate it because the material was uninspiring, boring and done-to-death, that would be a huge disappointment. So, we kept pushing and tried to keep it fresh all the time, while still having the ‘this has to be FINNTROLL because no other band sounds this insane’ — grinning going on.”

ORPHANED LAND Putting Finishing Touches On New Album

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

Israeli progressive folk metal masters ORPHANED LAND are putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to 2010’s “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR”. The band’s sixth full-length CD, “All Is One”, will be released on June 25 (one day earlier internationally).

Commented ORPHANED LAND singer Kobi Farhi: “I’ll say it plain and simple —‘All Is One’ is ORPHANED LAND’s best album so far. I feel that we took all aspects to a new level — the way we write, arrange, play and produce.

“We recorded the album in three countries (Turkey, Sweden and Israel) and it turned out so strong, we can’t stop listening to it.

“The album is very rich in sound, with more than 40 people participating (choirs, violins, and many traditional instruments, too).

“Our secret recipe was always the fact that unlike many other bands,ORPHANED LAND doesn’t follow ONE master mind that writes everything; we work in a way that ‘all is one.’ We create our music in a perfect blend of synergy and harmony and all the band members are a part of this process. We translate the album’s title and message exactly in the way we work, and we always hope we could give a bit of an inspiration to the people in the tragic Middle Eastern lands.

“We have fans all over the Middle East. We live in a place where huge amounts of people who consider themselves enemies still share one thing in common, they are all fans of ORPHANED LAND, and in these lands of orphans and bloody holy wars, our only weapon is music, and hopefully we will grow to understand that ‘all is one.’”

ORPHANED LAND’s forthcoming effort will be the band’s first to feature guitarist Chen Balbus following the departure of Matty Svatizky in June 2012 due to “personal” and “professional” issues.

“The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 80 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

“The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” was released in Europe on January 25, 2010.

ORPHANED LAND’s concert DVD, “The Road To OR-Shalem”, was released in October 2011 in Europe and November 2011 in the U.S. viaCentury Media Records.

AVANTASIA: ‘Sleepwalking’ Video Released

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

“Sleepwalking”, the new video from EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet’sAVANTASIA project, can be seen below. The clip was filmed in a magical forest in Germany on a snowy winter’s night and it features a duet between Tobias and female vocalist Cloudy Yang..

Comments Tobias: “It was far below freezing. And there we were, standing in the snow storm for hours, walking through a haunted forest. It felt a bit like ‘Sleepy Hollow’ meets ‘Brothers Grimm’, but the pictures that came out were really great and compensated for the torture.”

About the song itself, Tobias says: “‘Sleepwalking’ is the most enchanting pop song I’ve ever written. Yes, it’s a pop song, and I am the first to admit it. I love stuff like A-HACUTTING CREWENYA and SARAH BRIGHTMAN.

“You know, the whole album is a journey.

“Someone said that ‘The Mystery Of Time’ is the most adventurousAVANTASIA album to date. What makes AVANTASIA what it is is its diversity. We have five double-bass songs, two big epics, a beautiful flamboyantly orchestrated ballad, and monumental mid-tempo groovy stuff with big choirs.

AVANTASIA has always been defined by its diversity and mingling of styles. It is an epic metal record and there are so many different things to be discovered, you have to give the album at least ten listens to discover half of what’s going on.

‘Sleepwalking’ are four wonderful minutes out of 60 minutes, but there is not one song on the album that can represent AVANTASIA on its own, it’s the full 60 minutes you have to pay attention to, to grasp the magic of this piece!”

“The Mystery Of Time” track listing:

01. Spectres
02. The Watchmakers’ Dream
03. Black Orchid
04. Where Clock Hands Freeze
05. Sleepwalking
06. Savior In The Clockwork
07. Invoke The Machine
08. What’s Left Of Me
09. Dweller In A Dream
10. The Great Mystery

BELPHEGOR: New Album Pushed Back To 2014

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

Austrian death/ black metal metallers BELPHEGOR have pushed back the release date of their new album to early 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011’s “Blood Magick Necromance” was recorded in part at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with producerErik Rutan (HATE ETERNALMORBID ANGELCANNIBAL CORPSE).

Commented BELPHEGOR founding member, guitarist and vocalistHelmuth Lehner: “Drums, bass and guitars are all tracked. It sounds brutal, more aggressive and more death than what was heard on the last LPs. The soundwall is massive — just as expected. Thanks to Erik Rutanfor the extra motivation and forcing us to nail down tight-as-fukk performances. Furthermore, I am set to lay down the vocals in June/July, the mixdown and mastering will be done in September.

“A tough call, but it was the best for the record to decide to delay the release date again, to unleash the album in early 2014.

“Be prepared for Diabolical Death Musick!”

Songtitles set to appear on BELPHEGOR’s new album include “Gasmask Terror”“Rex Tremendae Majestatis”“Take Her, Lucifer!” and “The Inverted Cross”. The cover artwork will be created by Greek artistAnthon Siro Seth, who previously worked on BELPHEGOR’s“Pestapokalypse VI” album in 2006. He said in a statement: “It will be a great challenge creating the artwork for BELPHEGOR’s new masterpiece. My mission is clear: creating the most disturbing artwork I have ever made!”

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Storming The Walls
02. Inner Sanctum

Commented SUIDAKRA singer Arkadius Antonik: “As on the previous two releases, it will be a concept album again, created by [famous Belgian graphic artist] Kris Verwimp in cooperation with us. Our new concept includes a lot of new elements and suprises which will be reflected in the music as well.”

In a 2012 interview with Metal KaozAntonik stated about SUIDAKRA’s new material: “The songs … are bombastic and we also finished the first song with Tina’s [Stabel] female vocals. This time, it’s gonna be a faster song with a real epic and catchy chorus.”

Bassist Marcus Riewaldt last year announced his departure fromSUIDAKRA. He said in a statement, “After more than 250 shows and 10 years being in the band, I feel that now time has come to change my priorities a bit and see what else life has to offer for me. No hard feelings involved; it’s just that I cannot motivate myself for another writing-rehearsing-recording-promoting-touring cycle and that I’m really annoyed by some of the music business mechanisms that one has to deal with in order to continue this beautiful and exciting, but at the same time very time- and energy-consuming hobby. I wish SUIDAKRA much luck and success for the future — it would all be well deserved!”

SUIDAKRA has already secured a replacement bassist in Tim Siebrecht, who was a stand-in guitar player for SUIDAKRA on several occasions in recent years.

SUIDAKRA’s tenth album, “Book Of Dowth”, was released on March 25, 2011 via AFM Records.
