VALLENFYRE has set May 12th as the release date (May 13th for North America) for their sophomore full length album, “Scabs” via Century Media Records. For a preview of Splinters, the album’s first single, “Scabs”, can now be heard online in full at Stereogum.com:
Best known as a founding member of UK gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST, Greg Mackintosh (vocals/lead guitars) transformed the anger and sadness ensuing the loss of his father into VALLENFYRE’s death/doom/crust debut, A Fragile King (2011). This heartfelt and cathartic release is now followed-up by the even more abrasive and extreme second full-length, Splinters. Inspired by the likes of HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, AUTOPSY, ANTISECT, DISCHARGE, NIHILIST, early NAPALM DEATH, early BATHORY, and CONFLICT, VALLENFYRE continues to dig deep into the roots of extreme music— yet due to Greg’s infallible song-writing skills, as well as the crushing sound courtesy of producer Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE, BLACK BREATH, BEASTMILK), Splinters is far from mere nostalgia.
