Work Begins On Long-Awaited Sophomore CONTROL DENIED Album

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

For the first time in twelve years, work has begin on the long-awaited second CONTROL DENIED album. Guitarist Shannon Hamm and producer Jim Morris of Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida have been reviewing material recorded by the band before CONTROL DENIED mainman — and DEATH mastermind — Chuck Schuldiner’s untimely passing.

Chuck — who died in December 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor — began work on the CD, tentatively titled “When Machine And Man Collide”, but never managed to finish the effort before his health quickly deteriorated in the months leading up to his tragic death. The remaining members of the group — bassist Steve DiGiorgio, vocalist Tim Aymar, guitarist Shannon Hamm, and drummer Richard Christy — subsequently announced their desire to complete the album and release it in Chuck’s memory, but legal hassles between Schuldiner’s family and Hammerheart Records (to whom Chuck was signed at the time of his death) put the entire project on hold. (Karmageddon Media — formerly Hammerheart Records — has since issued various incomplete demo recordings as two separate low-quality albums, “Zero Tolerance” and “Zero Tolerance II”.)

Chuck’s mother, Jane Schuldiner, previously stated about the unfinished recordings: “[Chuck’s] last masterpiece deserves more than to be released as unfinished bits of rehearsal room recordings on CD, or to be grabbed for free on the Internet. It deserves to be finished by the rest of the band and to be released on a full-length album, titled: ‘When Machine And Man Collide’.”

CONTROL DENIED’s legendary first album, “The Fragile Art of Existence”, got the deluxe reissue treatment in October 2010 through Relapse Records.

“The Fragile Art of Existence”, originally released in 1999 to critical acclaim, was remastered, repackaged and features liner notes from CONTROL DENIED drummer Richard Christy, never-before-seen photographs, as well as over an hour of previously unreleased demo and rehearsal tracks.

Two versions of the “The Fragile Art of Existence” reissue were made available. The worldwide version was a two-CD set including the original album plus a bonus CD of early demo material. The second version was limited to 1,000 copies and was a three-disc set including an extra bonus disc of demo tracks, many of which have Schuldiner on vocals. The three-disc set was made available at Relapse.com exclusively.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE: ‘The Forsaking’ Video Teaser

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

A teaser for “The Forsaking”, the new video from the Italian brutal/symphonic horde FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, can be seen below. The full clip will make its online debut on December 21.

“The Forsaking” comes off FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s second full-length album, “Agony”, which was released in August 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD’s intricate cover design was handled by Marco Hasmann, who previously worked with the band on the “Mafia” and “Oracles” releases.

Commented the group: “The album cover is about the eternal struggle of mankind; we’re condemned to live facing our evil side, which dwells in every one of us. We are like tied to the ground, forced in chains that can’t be broken, so the man in the cover is representing all humanity and its eternal agony, knowing that it’s almost impossible to liberate ourselves from the obscurity of our nature. Unless we decide to admit to ourselves who we are and face our doom, that would be the only way to free our kind and rise to an higher conscience, someday.”

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE is:

Tommaso Riccardi – Lead Vocals, Guitars
Paolo Rossi – Vocals, Bass
Cristiano Trionfera – Vocals, Guitars
Francesco Paoli – Drums, Guitars and Vocals
Francesco Ferrini – Piano, Orchestra

SODOM To Release New Album In April

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

SPV/Steamhammer has set an April 29, 2013 release date for the as-yet-untitled new album from German thrash metal veterans SODOM. The band is currently recording 12 songs with producer Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., ENEMY OF THE SUN).

SODOM’s latest CD, “In War And Pieces”, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 64.

SODOM in 2010 parted ways with drummer Bobby Schottkowski due to “personal and private problems between Tom and Bobby,” according to a statement released by the band.

SODOM’s current drummer, Markus Freiwald, previously played for the German bands DESPAIR and FLAMING ANGER and was involved with the VOODOOCULT project. In addition, he played percussion as a session musician on the MOONSPELL album “Irreligious” and is featured on the 1996 LP “Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers” by Greek extreme metallers ROTTING CHRIST.

VREID: Norwegian Black ‘N’ Roll Assassins Set To Release New Full-Length; Teaser Track Posted

Norwegian black ‘n’ roll assassins VREID recently completed work on their latest long player. Titled Welcome Farewell, the follow-up to 2011’s V, which Decibel called, “…VREID’s finest hour,” and Metal Army America commended for its “integrity and sheer electrical power,” was recorded at bassist Hváll’s own Studio 1184 and is set for North American release via Indie Recordings March 5, 2013.

View their video blog from the studio below:

Comments bassist Hváll of the new material, “two years after we started writing new riffs, our new beast is now complete. It’s been a lot of work, but we are utterly pleased with the result. ‘Dark,’ ‘heavy’ and ‘VREID’ are the three keywords to describe it.  The artwork takes us in a new direction this time, and is done by the wizard Kim Holm. His work is spectacular and has captured the music and lyrics beyond words. In February the new album will see the light of day, and we can’t wait to unleash it, and come out and play for you again.”

Additionally, you can sample latest VREID single “The Reap” as well as the Welcome Farewell cover art courtesy of esteemed metal rag Terrorizer HERE! Further details on Welcome Farewell to be revealed in the coming weeks.
